As CEO of Tesla since its inception in 2003, Elon oversees all aspects of the company’s electric vehicle, battery, and solar energy product design, engineering, and global manufacturing. Tesla’s primary mission is to accelerate the global shift towards sustainable energy.
The company introduced its first product, the Roadster sports car, in 2008, followed by the Model S sedan in 2012 and the Model X SUV in 2015. Notably, the Model S received Consumer Reports’ Best Overall Car and the Ultimate Car of the Year by Motor Trend.
